The Daily Bulletin reported that in Claremont, California, a motorcyclist died on Monday, February 7, 2011, when a motorcycle and its rider collided with an empty bus. This fatal motorcycle collision occurred in the afternoon at Foothill Boulevard and Mountain Avenue. There was no release of information about the name of the motorcyclist while the police notice the next of kin. There was no information about the cause of the accident as of the time of this blog.
Over the course of my career, I have handled a number of very serious motorcycle injury cases. Sometimes these accidents were completely the fault of the other driver, at other times there was a combination of factors that caused the accident. In every case, the motorcyclist suffered either serious personal injuries or lost their lives in the accident. In nearly every case, there was not enough insurance available to fully compensate the injured motorcycle rider. I encourage motorcyclists to purchase uninsured motorist coverage to help provide additional insurance compensation for serious injuries or death from a motorcycle accident.
