If you're going to rent a property, I make this suggestion to you: ask the landlord to do a thorough inspection of the interior of the property before you rent that property. Thereafter, ask the landlord to make sure that he or she inspects the property in the areas that they have control over, generally the outside, the stairs, things of that nature. The landlord has a responsibility to make sure that he or she provides you with a safe environment to start out with. In the areas that the landlord has control, generally outside the four walls of your home and the apartment that you rented, your landlord has the responsibility to maintain the area.
